When sorting through my pictures recently, I realized that I take a lot of pictures of birds wherever I go. I am always fond of pelicans, but this picture makes me smile. I like to imagine what the dialogue between the #turtle and the pelican might be! “Hey, little fella…”
The next two are at the Desert Botanical Gardens (@dbgphxin) Phoenix where the docents sometimes bring in animals or birds for the visitors to meet. This tiny owl is mighty cute. I think it may be a barn owl. Also, on display that day was an alert and elegant small hawk.

The male peacock was roaming free at Smith’s Garden in Lihue, Kauai. Male peacocks have gorgeous plumage, but their call is awful, like the cry of a child in distress. The female peahen has much more modest plumage.
